Little City Concerts: Local Sounds • Local Causes

Little City Concerts is a hyper-local Fall Church City arts nonprofit that mixes amazing musical performances with worthy causes. Each of our concerts is themed around a particular cause or issue that our artists, local to the DMV, want to highlight. We partner with an as-local-as-possible nonprofit that works on that issue, donating 50% of ticket sales for that event to that partner org. In three years of programming, we've welcomed over 1000 people to our events, we've paid over $30,000 into the local arts economy, and we've donated over $6,500 to our partner nonprofits.

Little City Concerts is an all-volunteer non-profit organization under IRS section 501(c)(3). Gifts are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. Check out our donation page if you'd like to help us out with a tax deductible gift. Please click here to read our Non Discrimination Statement

our History

2023-2024 was our first season of pairing music and social justice in Falls Church City. Our three concerts were generously funded by grants from the Falls Church City Arts and Humanities Council and the Randy Hostetler Living Room Foundation, local businesses in our community, and a host of individual supporters, and we were able to give free tickets to students and youth to attend concerts two and three. Our programming featured: Balance Campaign presenting Texture, Terrain, Transformation, an environmentally-inspired program that was paired with EcoAction Arlington; soprano Celine Mogielnicki and pianist Tatiana Loisha presenting SPEAK, a program devoted to voices connected with the LGBTQ+ community that was paired with SMYAL; and David Kim and Friends presenting The Artistry of Clara Schumann: Composer and Performer, which was paired with Doorways.

In 2024-2025, we expanded our offerings to include a fourth concert; we produced a staged production of Ashi Day's Waking the Witch (our first chamber opera); and we also presented our first Little City Concerts Commission: Keith Butler, Jr's Rest/Imagine: Themes for a Bloodline. Season 2 also saw our first Young Pianist's Masterclass, where two pianists that participated were selected to appear as openers on a Little City Concerts event with pianist Sophia Vastek. We found amazing partners in our community work with in Season 2, including the Falls Church Farmer's Market, the Mary Riley Styles Public Library, and Clare and Don's Beach Shack!

Season 3 started on 9/20/2025 with a bang, featuring Nen Daiko, a taiko drum group from Fairfax, VA, which we paired with the Hamkae Center; Mary Voutsas and friends followed on 11/22/25 with a program for Transgender Day of Remembrance that paired with SafeSpaceNoVA. Bridge Voices performed David Lang's Pulitzer Prize winning work The Little Match Girl Passion on 2/21/26, paired with Homestretch; Sound of Home at 250, our season finale with Arlington's 9th Street Quartet on 4/18, featured a diverse array of American composers reflecting on identity and belonging, and was paired with Second Story.

Our Partners

For its inaugural season, Little City Concerts was very excited to partner with The Falls Church (Episcopal) and their Music Director, Sonya Subbayya. This partnership continues under new Music Director Justin Oei. Little City Concerts and The Falls Church share common goals: a desire to enrich the artistic life of Falls Church City and an intent to raise awareness and funds for local charities dedicated to social justice issues. All performances will take place at The Falls Church, utilizing both their modern sanctuary and the historic 18th Century sanctuary.

We are also excited to be members of the Falls Church Chamber of Commerce, and we are honored to hold the 2026 Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency.

Teaming up with Local nonprofits/charities
