9th Street Quartet at the Mary Riley Styles Library
As part of our "Sounds of Home at 250" series of events, the 9th Street Quartet will present a FREE program at our local Mary Riley Styles Public Library on Monday, 4/13. More info with be forthcoming, but this presentation will be a teaser for the full concert with the quartet on 4/18, which you can read about here. We are very excited to be in on the City of Falls Church's celebrations for the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence!
Farm Day Presentations
We were so happy to be a part of Falls Church City’s Farm Day event at the Historic Cherry Hill Farm House this year! On Saturday, 10/11/2025, we offered a series of free presentations at 10:30am, 11:30am, and 12:30pm to folks that came by the historic farm house for a tour.
Farm Day is an annual fall-fest-like event in the City of Falls Church centered around Cherry Hill Park that includes a mix of free and ticketed activities catered towards families (lots of crafts, pumpkin painting, pony rides, etc).
Our 20-minute demos, which were set up in the parlor of the historic Farm House and led by local experts Barbara and Richard Green, highlighted a fortepiano that was common in homes of this era, along with repertoire by composers that were popular at the time: for this presentation, Barbara paired some Mozart with pieces by Maria Hester Park and Sophia Dussek, two female composer/performers that were popular during this era.
